Some of you may recall shows and exhibitions in The old Audi garages on cheltenham road this summer. The bristol arts trade centre was created and run on a voluntary basis by artists working under the banner of Artspace / lifespace. The Invisible Circus supported this project and the venue played host to many cabaret nights and a big site specific show The Road to Nowhere before its untimeley closure. By the kindness of chance The Magic Box was closed shortly before hand and within weeks was falling into a similar state of disrepair as the Audi venue had been in.
the Artspace Project this week won the Venue magazine Golden Banana award for best campaign for its work at the Audi space and now it seems the group may have The magic Box into the new year due to the wheels of progress for once grinding slowly ! The space is available for groups and individuals to get involved either contributing to the existing program or putting on new productions.
Anyone seeking experience back stage or in other aspects of production besides performance may also find this a useful space. any interested parties should make contact by email or call 077890 52498 and there is a fri sat night show coming this weekend. Bristol is an amzing place !

And the wheels roll on...
Today, the bailiffs arrived at the magic box. They crowbarred their way into the building and have sealed it with sitex and security grills.
That means that the extensive publicity for what could have been a wonderful night of theatre circus and music will only serve to bring people towards a locked door.
So there it is, the beauty and possibility afforded by squatted spaces is paid for by their insecurity.
